After four years of hard work, Ari Gold (Hoyt Honey) of the Honey Brothers will finally debut his feature film, Adventures of Power, this Friday. This Wednesday (October 7), Variance Films will celebrate the US theatrical release with a party at the newly-opened Knitting Factory in Williamsburg. There is an optional $10 donation at the door to support the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation and their effort in providing music education to disadvantaged children.
Adventures of Power is about a character who never learned to play the drums because his father couldn’t afford a drum set. Power, the main character, embraces the next best thing: air drumming. This is Power’s story as he sets off on a musical journey across the country to join an underground air drumming crew in Newark.
Starring Ari Gold, DuContra, Jane Lynch, Michael McKean, Shoshannah Stern, Chiu Chi Ling, and Adrian Grenier, Adventures of Power has been met with critical acclaim and has won several awards, including “Official Selection” at the Sundance Film Festival and winning at the “Vail Film Festival, Indie Memphis Festival, and the San Antonio Film Festival,” among others.
This promises to be one hell of a party – we were even sworn to secrecy about some of the special guests and performances – so come support this independent film and the great cause that they have taken on.
