The Raveonettes are In and Out of Control
Richie Adomako / October 20, 2009

The summer has come to an end and the music blasting out of windows has come to a calm. As the warm times coincide with a new brew of winds and clouds, a change of pace ensues as we settle to a new warmth (indoors) – or rather, the chill of the fall and the forthcoming cold fronts. And then…the Raveonettes come in - just in time for the last dance. In and Out of Control, the retro Danish Duo’s fourth album, is a culmination of the warmth that has passed. The drums and snazzy synthesizers make this album perfect for the summer’s concluding memories for a final dance to the tunes of a resonating brisk album flowing with enough pop for the perfect consummation of the passing time.
What particularly makes the Raveonettes out of control? Well, their tunes are catchy, but with songs like “Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)”, “Suicide”, “D.R.U.G.S.”, “Breaking Into Cars”, “Break Up Girls!” and “Oh, I Buried You Today,” their lyrics may require more thought and attention than their riffs – creating a nice juxtaposition for listening either in or out of control.
The album is available now. Check out their track “Last Dance” below and click through for their video “Dead Sound” from their 2008 album Lust Lust Lust.
