This Friday, September 24, our lovely friends over at Good Peoples present a one-off party from one of the hottest UK labels LuckyMe, based out of Glasgow, Scotland. This is an event so legendary it is only fitting that it take place in our very own Chinatown mini-mall turned rave hub, otherwise known as 88 Palace.
LuckyMe started in the summer of 2007 as a pipe dream to run a hip-hop group in a place that wasn’t on the map for hip-hop at the time. They went to the best clubs in the vicinity and thereby got caught up in other music whether it was underground dance music, techno, jazz, pop or rock. They ran parties in and around the Glasgow School of Art and Stereo. Simply put, they weren’t trying to do something innovative and different, but were just doing their thing. In July 2007 they started the label, artist collective and website as it exists today.
Since then, LuckyMe has become one of the world’s leading young crews, fusing hip-hop and new electronic club music. Us New Yorkers are lucky enough to have the crew cruise through our city this weekend for a rare event featuring their A-list starting line-up of Hudson Mohawke and Rustie who will be spinning back to back with support from Mike Slott, The Blessings and some of the most exciting new producers and DJs traveling in from around the world: Lunice, Jacques Greene, Eclair Fifi, Machinedrum, Cubic Zirconia, and Azelia Banks. In short, you’ll be kicking yourself for months to come if you dare to skip this awesome influx of European talent, so start plotting your route into the heart of Chinatown and beat bliss today.
