One of the highlights of DJ M’s set at Mr. West was his original mix of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” and Beck’s “Loser”. In fact, we liked it so much we asked him to record it for us.  Check out “Paper Loser” below or download it here.

Beck x M.I.A. – Paper Loser (DJ M Remix)

Given Beck’s culture collage of musical styles, it comes as no surprise that he’s begun a weekly DJ set entitled Planned Obsolescence. Beck describes the project as, “…mixes of what we’re listening to, put together by myself or guest DJs.”

The inaugural edition, “Autobahn Hologram”, draws from a somewhat lo-fi obscurity which is exactly what you would expect from the eclecticism of Beck. His own depiction of the mix is, “a laminated miasma colliding on the bavarian trans expressway with american analog and voicemail emeritus… alabama nukes, rhineland jukes, pony tailed arch dukes, and the anatomically correct scapegoat…”
