Electric Daisy Carnival is Here!

Looking for a June getaway? The electronic dance festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, is moving to Las Vegas for the first time! EDC is not only a music festival but an entertainment experience. Aside from showcasing some of electronic music’s premiere artists, EDC presents several other activities to entertain festival-goers. Attendees can see dancers, clowns, and stilt-walkers as well as six stages of music and several carnival rides. EDC’s incredible created environment completely transforms a venue into musical paradise. This year’s headliners are Tiesto, David Guetta, and Swedish House Mafia. The move to Las Vegas from Los Angeles will allow an even bigger and better event with more attractions and artists. EDC is definitely going to be a weekend to remember!

Payment Plans

Passes to the festival can be purchased HERE. This year, Electric Zoo is also offering a payment plan for those who would prefer to not pay the full sum all at once. This payment plan contains two options. The first payment option allows you to pay a 50% deposit of your order total upon purchase of the pass, plus service fees, with the remaining 50% automatically deducted from your card on August 1, 2011. The second option allows you to pay 30% of your order total plus service fees as your first payment, with the remaining total automatically deducted in equal payments on July 1st and August 1st 2011.

Dust Reduction

Electric Zoo will also be making efforts to reduce dust this year, as the dancing and frolicking of 25,000 pairs of feet coupled with the unusually dry summer took a toll last year, and by the end of the day, the grass had been trampled and a lot of dirt had been kicked up into the air.

Here’s a list of things they’ve put in place to reduce the dust:

  • Flooring will be used in all of the tents. This means that where all that dancing is going on, the grass will be protected and dirt won’t be kicked up.
  • Dirt service roads will be covered with flooring. As our crew travels in golf carts and other vehicles to get from place to place around the perimeter of the festival grounds, there’ll be far less dirt stirred up.
  • Making use of existing pavement for high traffic areas, including the area directly in front of the main stage. The main stage will be moved back this year in order to create more space. This will mean that a large area directly in front of the main stage will now be situated on pavement rather than grass. So when you “tear up the dancefloor” in front of the main stage, you’ll no longer be tearing up grass and kicking up dirt at the same time

They’ve also hired lawn specialists to consult with and work with Randall’s Island Park to improve on the maintenance of the field and to get it as healthy as possible before Electric Zoo.

Check out our coverage of last year’s Electric Zoo HERE, and stay tuned for more information and updates from us as the event draws closer!

Pacha NYC Celebrates 5 Years

Just in case you were wondering what you should do with yourself this weekend and the next, rest assured, we have a solution. Just move in to Pacha, which will be celebrating it’s 5 year anniversary with a roster of ridiculous talent from all over the world to be featured over the two weekends. While Pacha has always been known for booking world famous talent and creating an incredible party atmosphere, they’ve really outdone themselves this time. David Guetta will be kicking off the festivities this Friday the 3rd, followed by Kaskade on Saturday the 4th, Luciano with Reboot and Robert Dietz (aka Cadenza Vagabundos) Friday the 10th, Erick Morillo and Fedde Le Grand Saturday the 11th, and finally rounding up with Danny Tenaglia Sunday the 12th.

In just five years, Pacha NYC has become not only the premier club venue in New York, but one of the foremost nightlife destinations in the world. Flanked by the scenic Hudson River to the west, and the thriving Hell’s Kitchen district to the east, the 30,000 square foot venue is split into four levels, each with its own character and customized decor, and each accessible and operable individually. The powerful sound of a German-imported Dynacord alpha concept speaker system fills the entire space, while intelligent, LED and conventional lighting brings each room to vibrant life. Pacha also contains a fully integrated video system with movable screens and projectors.

Advanced tickets can be purchased HERE.

David Guetta: Keeping An Eye On An Icon

2009 was a big year for David Guetta, and in 2010 we are still feeling the effects of it. In French, Guetta means to “keep an eye on, watch for.” (To the record industry, Guetta means top-ten, multi-platinum records and versatility between a DJ who is as successful in front of an audience as he is behind the scenes as a producer.) The French superstar DJ and Grammy Award winner came to New York City on February 24th for a set at Pacha that fueled a chaos-of-a-party. Pacha doesn’t open on Wednesdays, yet it was packed. If that weren’t enough, the number one house DJ (also ranked third overall world-wide by the DJ List) arrived with friends in tow – sending the already excited crowd into a frenzy. Between collaborations with Akon, Kelly Rowland, Estelle and will.i.am. and hits from his 2009 album One Love, the creator of the “Fuck Me I’m Famous” moniker and tour has taken on an icon status.

Kelis Goes Acapella

Kelis-Acapella-hifi-cartel

Last week, Kelis took to her Twitter account to leak “Acapella”, the lead single off her upcoming album. The album, which is “pretty much finished“, will include tracks produced by David Guetta (“Acapella”), Boys Noize and Major Lazer (aka Diplo and Switch).

The singer was recently featured on “Scars”, the title track from Bassment Jaxx’s latest album, and also collaborated with Crookers on the track “No Security” for their upcoming release, Tons of Friends. With that top-notch roster of producers, it’s safe to say that Kelis is going in a more electro-dance direction for her upcoming album. The record is set for a spring release through Geffen Records via Will.I.Am Music Group.

Check out “Acapella” below, click through to listen to Basement Jaxx’s “Scars” and the video for Crookers’ “No Security”.

bestbuy

With the recent closings of the Virgin Megastore and Circuit City, the music scene in Union Square has been looking pretty dismal. Enter Club Beats, Best Buy’s answer to declining in-store music sales. Along with Monster and Beats by Dr. Dre, Best Buy aims to revive the in-store music shopping experience by encouraging customer interaction with the latest in music, audio, entertainment and technology products. “Club Beats is a very exciting proposition, says Noel Lee, head of Monster, “it will allow people to explore the world of high-performance audio, while at the same time discovering ways to get close to the music and artists they love”.

True to their word, Best Buy is launching the Club Beats experience with massive music events across the country. The New York launch will be held this Thursday at the brand-new Union Square location, with a live performance by Major Lazer and Diplo, a DJ set by David Guetta, and in-store appearances by Dr. Dre, Will.I.Am, and Jimmy Iovine.

The event kicks off at 4 PM on Thursday, click here to learn more about Club Beats and how you can attend their upcoming events.
