Just in case you were wondering what you should do with yourself this weekend and the next, rest assured, we have a solution. Just move in to Pacha, which will be celebrating it’s 5 year anniversary with a roster of ridiculous talent from all over the world to be featured over the two weekends. While Pacha has always been known for booking world famous talent and creating an incredible party atmosphere, they’ve really outdone themselves this time. David Guetta will be kicking off the festivities this Friday the 3rd, followed by Kaskade on Saturday the 4th, Luciano with Reboot and Robert Dietz (aka Cadenza Vagabundos) Friday the 10th, Erick Morillo and Fedde Le Grand Saturday the 11th, and finally rounding up with Danny Tenaglia Sunday the 12th.
In just five years, Pacha NYC has become not only the premier club venue in New York, but one of the foremost nightlife destinations in the world. Flanked by the scenic Hudson River to the west, and the thriving Hell’s Kitchen district to the east, the 30,000 square foot venue is split into four levels, each with its own character and customized decor, and each accessible and operable individually. The powerful sound of a German-imported Dynacord alpha concept speaker system fills the entire space, while intelligent, LED and conventional lighting brings each room to vibrant life. Pacha also contains a fully integrated video system with movable screens and projectors.
This weekend, the Pepsi DJ Collective is kicking things off a little early with a party at Roxy’s Playhouse (a.k.a. BK Space, N8, The Space on 8th, etc.) on Thursday. Diplo, Roxy Cottontail, DJ Drama and Eli Escobar will take turns manning the decks, with a special live performance by Mad Decent’s own Maluca.
Saturday night brings two legends of house music to town: Erick Morillo is back from Ibiza and will be spinning at Pacha, while Jeff Mills and his signature Detroit techno will be at The Sullivan Room.
Don’t forget, CMJ’s annual Music Marathon is taking over NYC next week. Click here to customize your own CMJ schedule, or check in with us on Monday for our top picks.
The fine folks at BBC Radio 1 continue to enlighten the world with their two hour, commercial free radio show, the Essential Mix. First broadcast October 10th, 1993, the Essential Mix showcases talent from the world’s best producers & DJs either from the studio, or beamed live from clubs and festivals around the globe.
Considering their influence within the UK dance music scene, we at The HiFi Cartel thought you might want to soak your ears with these tasty mixes. Be warned however, they are quite addictive!
Jumping right in, we have Colombian born DJ/Producer, Erick Morillo. His label, Subliminal, releases funky house tracks which consistently shake booties from Ibiza to NYC. Please turn your speakers up…
