Last fall, Nosaj Thing blew us away with his opening set on Bassnectar’s Cozza Frenzy tour. Nosaj Thing, whose real name is Jason Chung (Nosaj is Jason spelled backwards), started dabbling in music production in high school. In the 10+ years since his start, Chung released his debut album, Drift, toured around the world, and has shared the stage with Flying Lotus, Diplo, Bassnectar, and Gaslamp Killer, among others. In 2008, Kid Cudi used Chung’s “Aquarium” (from the Views/Octopus EP) for his song “Man on the Moon”, which first appeared on his breakout mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, and later became the title track of his debut album, released in 2009. Chung has recently done remixes for The xx (“Islands”) and Drake (“Forever”), both of which are available for download on his official website.
Nosaj Thing will kick off the Magical Properties Tour alongside Daedelus and Jogger this Thursday in Palm Springs. The trio will make a stop at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on February 20. We’ll be giving away a pair of tickets to the show next week.

Last week, we stopped by the Double Down Saloon to watch Kidz in the Hall shoot the music video for “Jukebox”, the first single off their upcoming album, Land of Make Believe.
In the scene, Naledge was getting his game on, quickly moving from girl to girl, while Double-O playfully snapped pictures. The bar created a dynamic backdrop for the video with colorful murals painted on the walls, and the decked-out extras contributied to the glam-grunge atmosphere.
“Jukebox” is co-directed by BBGUN’s Alex Bergman and Max Bohichik, who also helmed Kid Cudi’s breakthrough video, “Day ‘N’ Night”. Click here for a free download of Jukebox, and be on the lookout for Kidz in the Hall when they take the stage during CMJ in October.
This week, Jay-Z released the artwork and track listing for his eleventh solo album, The Blueprint 3. Kanye West produced most tracks on the album, which features collaborations with Pharell (on the N.E.R.D.-produced track “So Ambitious”), Kid Cudi, Drake, and Alicia Keys. The buzzworthy contribution by MGMT comes in the form of “Venus vs. Mars”, which they produced.
The Blueprint 3 will be released on September 11, 2009 by Atlantic Records. View the full track list after the jump, and click here to see photos by Oliver Correa from Jay-Z’s recent headlining performance at All Points West.
When we met Donnis at the Shock the World party last week (above left, with Stevie Williams), we had no idea that the Atlanta native was on the verge of blowing up. Next week, 10 Deep, the people behind Kid Cudi’s breakout mixtape will release Donnis: Diary of an Atlanta Brave.
A preview track, “Over Do It” has already been making its way around the interwebs. Just when you think you have another auto-tune track on your hands, Donnis comes out guns blazing with some hard-hitting hip hop and a catchy hook. Click here to download it or listen to it below:
